Ages: 7-Adult Players: 2+ (Individuals or Teams)
Finska is a wooden strategic mathematical outdoor tossing game that originated from Finland, also known as mölkky or Klop.
Loads of fun for all ages, kids love it, and they are actually doing sums in their head without realising they are doing maths.
The pegs must be arranged in a particular way.
Take turns to throw the pegs, if more than one peg is knocked over, you score the number of pegs knocked over.
If a single peg is knocked over, you score the number on that peg.
The aim of the game is to reach 50 points, but don't go over, or you will lose!
Great for gatherings with freinds or family at the park, beach or backyard.
Also excellent for schools, fetes and company events.
Finska encourages number building and strategic thinking while incorporating outdoor play.
Kids love it, and they are actually doing sums in their head without realising they are doing maths.
Educators Note:
1) The original game of finska teaches concepts of totals, addition and subtraction and develops hand-eye co-ordination. Strategic thought process is also developed.
2) Using a relay format, teams race to bring back pins that:
• are in numeric order
• prime numbers
•difference of two numbers
3) Use stop watches to time racing activities.
4) Bring back eg, 3 numbers that make 30, or 4 numbers that make 21 using one of the basic operations.
5) Fraction relays.
6) Teacher calls out a fraction and student must fetch the numbers that represent an equivalent fraction.

Rules:Set the finska pins up in a tight circle bunched together with the numbers 10, 11, 12 in the middle.
Place the box 5 medium steps (3-4 metres) away from the finska pins. This is where each player throws from.
One underarm throw per turn using the finska pin (longer & unnumbered pin) at the numbered pins.
If one pin falls, the player receives the number of points on that pin, if two or more pins fall, the player receives one point per pin that falls.
Finska pins must be knocked over fully and not leaning on another pin to receive points.
The pins that have fallen are placed upright where they lie after each turn. (As the game progresses the pins move further from each other)
If a finska player does not knock over any pins for 3 turns in a row, the player is out of the game.
Each finska player has one throw per turn until a player of the game reaches exactly 50 points.
If a player's score goes over 50 points, the players score drops to 25 and continues the next turn around.
